This is my attempt to add a photo from Flickr to my blog. It was supposed to be in another post, but I only managed to get it into its own indvidiual post. It just takes time to figure these things out. Time which I don't have right now. Ideally I would have liked the text to the left of this photos, but I can't figure out how to change it.
Sea, sand, stick = happy dog
Hello. Lovely dog!
ReplyDeleteTo get a picture from Flickr (without using the 'blog this' button at the top of the pic in Flickr) into a blog post, this is what I do:
1) Look at the pic on Flickr. Click the 'all sizes' button at the top. This takes you to a new page - choose the size of pic you want.
2) Right click on the pic then in IE click properties and select and copy the image URL which will be somewhere in the properties window, or in Firefox click 'copy image location'.
3) Return to Blogger. Start a post, or open a draft post to edit it. Make sure you're in the 'compose' tab, and not the 'edit html' tab (tabs just at the top of the box you type in).
4) Click on the insert image icon (a sort of green/blue box). Select the web option, not the upload option. Paste the URL from step 3 into the box, and wait to see the pic appear.
5) Click OK. Now you should in the pic in the post. If you click on it you get options just below it, you have options to change the size and positioning. You can also click and drag the image to the right place vertically in the post.
I've written these notes without looking at Blogger or Flickr, so please say if they make no sense. Hope that helps!
P.S. Inserting and arranging photos is easier if you have the 'updated' editor. To get that, go to the 'settings' tab in Blogger, choose 'basic', and then scroll to the bottom of the page. Under the 'global settings' heading, choose the 'Updated editor'.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for all your help, Girl in the Moon. I have managed to import the photo into my blog. I'm much obliged. Thanks too for the hint about the updated editor. It did make the photo a lot easier to manouevre.
